Neosorb Rapid absorbables
Neosorb Rapid Absorbable Surgical Sutures
The NEOSORB-PGLA RAPID (RPGLA) synthetic absorbable surgical suture is indicated for the contact of soft tissues, oral mucosa, plastic surgery and in general where only short-term support is required. Its use is not indicated for the tissues of the central cardiovascular, central nervous and ophthalmic systems.
After implantation, the synthetic absorbable surgical suture RAPID PGLA (RPGLA) initially causes a mild inflammatory reaction of the tissue, followed by the gradual creation of a fibrous tissue capsule. The RAPID PGLA (RPGLA) suture is degraded by hydrolysis processes, where the copolymer decomposes into glycolic and lactic acid, and by gradually decreasing its potency, and is finally absorbed by the tissues.
The RAPID PGLA SUTURE (RPGLA) has a residual strength of 50% after 5 days. All the initial strength of the suture is lost within 10-14 days after implantation. The absorption of the suture is completed within 42 days.
