The Braun ThermoScan 7 IRT 6520 measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissue. Since the eardrum shares its blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain, the ear accurately reflects changes in core body temperature. The thermometer's sensor can be safely used to measure temperature on newborns, as it does not need to be fully inserted into the ear canal to obtain an accurate measurement. Age Precision technology correctly interprets the measurement based on age (0-3 months, 3-36 months or 36+ months) to give you the most accurate results so you can manage symptoms at home with confidence, while the user-friendly ExacTemp stability indicator confirms when the device is stable in the ear with a light and a beep. The device has a pre-heated tip designed to be close to your body temperature for improved accuracy.
