The Gima skin fold meter allows the assessment of a person’s nutritional status thanks to the measurement of the thickness of the skin folds. Inexpensive but accurate skinfold for professional use, made in Italy. It measures the thickness of the skin folds on the body, based on the characteristics developed by Tanner and Whitehouse:
– pressure on the fold: about 10 g / mm2
– contact surface on the fold: about 6 x 11 mm
Description
This device allows a proper assessment of nutritional status and adipose tissue distribution per examination area. By lifting a fold of skin with your fingers you can measure the thickness with the tool: on its tip a scale in millimeters and an arrow measure the fold of skin (triceps, subscapular muscles, etc.) with an accuracy of about 0.5 millimeters . Colored bands near the scale allow simultaneous comparison of the measured value with reference rates related to men and women. This information is included in the manual that comes with the dermatometer and makes it easier to interpret the values.
