Influenza is a highly contagious, acute viral infection of the respiratory tract. It is a contagious disease easily transmitted through cough and Type A viruses are usually more prevalent than type B viruses and are associated with more severe influenza outbreaks, while type B infections are usually milder. The Influenza A/B Antigen Test qualitatively detects the presence of influenza A and/or influenza B antigen in nasal samples, providing results within 15 minutes. The test uses antibodies specific to influenza A and influenza B to selectively detect influenza A and influenza B antigen in nasal samples.
The Influenza A/B Antigen Test is a qualitative, lateral-flow immunobiological test for the detection of influenza A and influenza B nucleoproteins in nasal samples. In this test, antibody specific to influenza A and influenza B nucleoproteins separately is superimposed on the test line in areas of the test cassette. During the test, a sample that reacts with the antibody to the influenza A and/or influenza B virus coated on particles is extracted. The mixture migrates onto the membrane to react with the antibody to the influenza A and/or influenza B virus onto the membrane and create one or two colored lines in the test areas. The presence of this colored line in one or both of the test areas means a positive result. To serve as a procedural check, a colored line will always appear in the control area if the test has been performed correctly.
